All you need to do is input your surfboard's Measurements, which can be found on the underside of your surfboard.
It is written as L ( length) x W ( width ) x V Volume.
When choosing a bag, the width and volume must be taken into account so your surfboard can fit into the bag width wise.
Our Calculator will tell you the bag width you will needs based on your calculations.

Q: How do I measure my surfboard for a cover?
A: Surfboards are measured in three dimensions — length × width × thickness. Here’s how to measure yours:
- Length – Measure from nose to tail, in feet and inches (e.g. 6’0 = 6 feet 0 inches long).
- Width – Measure rail to rail at the widest point of your board, in inches (e.g. 21”).
- Thickness – Measure the board’s depth, usually written as a fraction (e.g. 3 4/6” = 3.67 inches).
Effective Width Formula:
Width + (Thickness ÷ 2) = Effective Width
Example: A board that’s 21” wide and 3 4/6” thick → Half of 3 4/6” = 1.84” → 21” + 1.84” = 22.84” effective width.
This is the true space your board will take up inside a cover.
Q: How does this help me choose a cover?
Pick the Boardsox length that matches or is just above your board’s length. Then check your board’s effective width against the shape guide:
Q: What if my board is between sizes?
A: Always go up. A 6’1” board will fit better in a 6’3” cover than trying to squeeze into a 6’0”. Extra length can be rolled or cinched with the drawstring.
Q: Will the cover stretch for thicker boards?
A: Our 16oz canvas has natural give to fit chunky rails and thicker boards, but if your board is extra wide or thick, choose a Fish or Mid-Length style to be safe.
